Therese Lugano; AFHHO Co-founder

Therese, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a multilingual advocate fluent in Lingala, Swahili, French, and English. She holds a BA in Community Development from PSU, an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from PCC, and a Bachelor’s in Legal Business from Ivory Coast.

Therese is the co-founder and Board President of AFHHO and a founding African Women’s Coalition member. She chairs ORCHWA’s Region 5 and serves on multiple advisory boards, including Parks & Recreation and DHS’s African Advocacy Council. With over 12 years as a Certified Nurse Assistant and extensive community organizing experience at IRCO/Africa House, she now works as a Community Health Specialist at Mid-County Health Center’s Refugee Clinic.

Passionate about empowering underserved communities, Therese volunteers tirelessly, organizing workshops and advocating for limited English-proficient populations.

Moses Davis: Vice Chair

Senior Project Leader at Intel; College Recruitment Committee Member; Minority Recruitment Committee Member; Urban League Representative; Benson scholarship committee Member; Computer Software and Technology PCC Adjunct Instructor; Computer Software and Technology ITT Technical Institute Adjunct Instructor; Heald College Algebra 1 & 2, Microcomputers Adjunct Instructor; De La Salle North Catholic High Physics, Algebra I, and Microcomputer Technology Instructor; Cisco training instructor and Strut instructor.

Moses Davis, AA in Electronics Technology; BS in Math & Sciences. Mr. Davis was recruited and went to work in the computer field in Santa Clara, California, which soon became known as Silicon Valley.  In October 1975, he went to work for Intel Corporation as a senior technician. 

As a Vice Chair for AFHHO, he is passionate about serving his African kindred community members through the programming design and doing the groundwork.

Harold Odhiambo: Board Chair

Board Chairman for the Community Health Council of the Multnomah Health Department, Board member of African Women Coalition (AWC), Board member of African Family Holistic Health Organization (AFHHO), State of Oregon Qualified Medical Interpreter; State licensed mental Health Peer Support Specialist. 

State of Oregon Qualified Medical Interpreter; State License Mental Health Peer Support Specialist; Community Outreach and Education. 

Harold’s career in community services began back in his home country of Kenya. Since coming to the US, he has worked as a State of Oregon Qualified Medical Interpreter; State License Mental Health Peer Support Specialist across Washington/Multnomah County, and now serves on the board of the Community Health Council of the Multnomah Health Department,  board of African Women Coalition (AWC), board of African Family Holistic Health Organization (AFHHO). Harold is passionate about community engagement, advocacy work, and keeping his community safe and healthy. He advocates for health education and getting immigrants and refugees access to important health resources. Harold is continuously looking for ways to better serve his community and help spread health awareness and education to the underserved population of refugees and immigrants in Portland.

Holly Weems

Holly is the Chief Operating Officer for Justice + Joy National Collaborative, where she has worked for over 13 years. Holly is dedicated to supporting the resilience of girls, young women and gender-expansive young people of color. Her lived experiences allow her to bring a unique perspective and passion to her work and understand the needs of those impacted by chronic adversity and violence. She’s a firm believer that healing and knowledge are the first steps in breaking generational cycles of adversity and achieving liberation and joy. Holly has over 25 years of professional experience in fundraising, project management, event management, organizational development, community outreach, grant management, resource development, human resources, and accounting in both the non-profit and private sectors. Holly and her husband are proud parents of three, who are empathic passionate advocates working hard to make the world a better place through service, leadership, and kindness.

Dr. Vincent Chirimwami, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been an Oregon resident since 2004. He holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration with a focus on Public Management and Leadership from Walden University, along with Master’s degrees in Education and Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies from PSU.

Currently, Dr. Chirimwami is a faculty member at Portland Community College, a PK-12 certified teacher with endorsements in Special Education, ESOL, and French at Portland Public Schools, and an experienced community dialogue facilitator. He also has extensive training in curriculum development, mediation, and compassionate listening.

As a member of the AFHHO Board, Dr. Chirimwami brings his expertise in education, conflict resolution, and public policy to support immigrants and refugees in accessing holistic health and essential social services, advancing equity for underserved communities.
